Jim Goodin - Through the Eyes of Youth, Here We Live

from Burst from the Sky Take Flight by Jim Goodin

about

This song started from a short essay written by my son Jamie when he was in middle school. He wrote a series of short pieces this one about our upstairs neighbor Paul Bianca. I initially had the words over a very sparse guitar figure but then I had another piece that was a mix of manipulation meaning edited and also utilized looping. I took that and combined and then combined two other short pieces recorded along the way on my iPad, still in February but more snapshot thoughts than a complete piece. Together this one went interesting places I think.

about

Jim Goodin New York

I used to think of myself as a musician but as time goes I think of myself more a sound maker.

I've always come to music with some degree of struggle, at times worrying I was 'tone deaf' and often going to great lengths to confirm that I wasn't. I'm not sure that ever mattered.

I play at several instruments, lap steel guitar and others, modular synth, tape loops and Pure Data.
